The Woodlands · Composite slate

Synthetic slate roofing in The Woodlands.

DaVinci, Brava, EcoStar and Inspire — Class 4 impact rated, ARC-approved, 1/4 the weight of real slate. 50-year limited warranty.

Synthetic slate gives you the look of a high-end estate roof without the structural reinforcement, the fragility, or the $80-per-square-foot price tag of natural slate. P91 Roofing installs DaVinci, Brava, EcoStar and Inspire across The Woodlands — every brand carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating that qualifies for the wind/hail premium credit on most Texas homeowner policies.

Why composite, not real slate

Real slate is beautiful and lasts a century — it also weighs 800–1,200 lbs per square. Almost no Greater Houston home is framed for it without engineered reinforcement that runs $20K–$40K before the roof itself. Composite slate gives you the same shadow lines, edge variation, and color depth at 200–280 lbs per square, which sits comfortably on standard truss systems.

Insurance Class 4 credit

All four brands we install carry a Class 4 impact rating under UL 2218 — the standard most Texas insurers require for the wind/hail premium discount. Typical savings: 10–30% off your annual roof premium for the life of the roof. We'll provide the manufacturer certification letter your carrier needs to apply the credit.

ARC and HOA approval

Every product we install is already on The Woodlands approved-materials list. We prepare the architectural-review packet (manufacturer cut sheets, color samples, roof-plan markup) and deliver it to your designated representative so the submission clears the first time.

FAQ

Which synthetic slate brands do you install?+

DaVinci, Brava, EcoStar, and Inspire. Each carries a Class 4 impact rating, Class A fire rating, and a 50-year limited warranty. We'll spec the right blend for your roof pitch, exposure, and HOA palette.

Will synthetic slate pass The Woodlands ARC?+

Yes — every product we install is on the approved-materials list. We prepare the full submission packet (cut sheets, color samples, plan markup) for your designated representative.

Is synthetic slate lighter than real slate?+

Roughly 1/4 the weight. That means no engineered framing reinforcement on most existing homes — real slate often requires it.

Does synthetic slate qualify for the Class 4 insurance discount?+

Yes. Every brand we install carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, which is what most Texas carriers require for the wind/hail premium credit.
