How long should my roof actually last in Houston?
Standard 3-tab asphalt shingles in Greater Houston typically run 15–18 years. Architectural (also called dimensional or laminate) shingles will get you 22–28 years before serious wear. The Texas sun, repeated 100°F heat cycles, and our hail seasons all shave years off the manufacturer rating — anyone who quotes you a flat "30 years" without inspecting the actual exposure isn't being straight with you.
02
3-tab vs. architectural shingles — what's the difference?
3-tab is the flat, single-layer shingle you see on builder-grade tract homes. It's cheap and lasts about 15 years. Architectural shingles are layered, look closer to wood shake, hold up to wind better (most are rated 110–130 mph), and last 25+ years. The cost difference on a typical 2,500 sq ft Houston roof is around $1,500–$3,000 — almost always worth it. We don't even quote 3-tab anymore.
03
How do I tell if I have hail damage?
Hail bruises look like dark, soft circles on the shingle surface — about the size of a dime to a quarter. You'll often see matching marks on metal vents, gutters, AC units, and window screens. If you have hail dings on your car or pockmarks on a wood deck, your roof took the same hits. Don't climb up. Call us — free inspection, drone photos, written report.

When does it make sense to consider an insurance claim?
Filing a claim is your decision, made with your insurance carrier or agent. Generally homeowners consider it when documented damage from a single covered event (storm, hail, wind, fallen tree) appears to exceed their deductible — and not for general wear-and-tear or age. We'll inspect the visible roof condition first and give you a clear photo and measurement record so you have honest information before you make the call. You are responsible for paying any required deductible.
05
What's roof ventilation and why does it matter?
Your attic needs to breathe. Hot, humid air trapped under a Houston roof cooks the underside of the shingles and rots the decking from the inside. Proper ventilation is a balanced intake (soffit vents) and exhaust (ridge vent or roof vents). If your AC bill keeps climbing and your shingles are curling early, ventilation is usually the hidden problem. We check it on every inspection.
06
How long does a roof replacement actually take?
A typical 2,500–3,500 sq ft single-family Greater Houston home: 1.5 to 3 days from tear-off to final cleanup. We start at first light, tarp shrubs and the pool, and run a magnetic sweep of the driveway and lawn before we leave. Multi-family and commercial jobs are scheduled in phases — usually one building per day.
07
What does the warranty actually cover?
Two warranties run side-by-side. The manufacturer (GAF, CertainTeed, etc.) covers material defects — typically a Manufacturer's Warranty on the shingle itself. P91 covers the labor and workmanship for 7 years on every install: if something we did causes a problem (a popped nail, a bad cut, a flashing failure), we come back at no charge.
08
Is 0% financing actually 0%?
Yes — through our Hearth partner, you may qualify for splitting the cost over 24 months at 0% APR, or longer terms at competitive rates. Application is on your phone, takes about 10 minutes, and a soft credit pull won't ding your score. We don't earn anything extra from the financing — it's there so the right roof choice isn't blocked by cash flow.
